So you've travelled down to Tiverton and after visiting the Horse-Drawn Barge (voted one of Devon's best small attractions in 2023!) you're wondering what other Mid Devon attractions there are near me?
Last year we compiled a list of things to do in Tiverton, so this time around, in our 50th year, we thought we'd give you five more things to do in Devon. So in this article we'd like to suggest a handful of other mid devon attractions.
5 More Things to do in Mid Devon in 2024
1. The Mid Devon Show (27th July 2024)
If you in Tiverton around on the 27th July 2024, you're probably already planning to go to the Mid Devon Show. It's 'a rip-roaring time as you soak up the best of rural Mid Devon'! It will be a mix of awesome entertainment, delicious food, local shopping, live music, vibrant horticulture, and a look what real farm life is all about, the Mid Devon Show is the ultimate celebration of all things Devon.
The award-winning Mid Devon show promises 9 hours of non-stop fun, where you can explore the region’s rich history, discover local producers, and feast on the best offerings Mid Devon has to offer.
The event takes place at Knights Hayes Court at the end of July.

2. Happy Glaze Pottery, Tiverton
Happy Glaze Pottery, located just a five-ten minute walk from the canal basin in Tiverton town centre. They are a paint your own pottery studio that provides a space for aspiring artists of all ages and abilities to express themselves. If you're looking for something to fun to do on a wet day they have a wide range of options including mugs, plates, money banks, and figurines.

3. Diggerland Devon, Collumpton
If you're visiting Mid Devon with the kids (or grandkids) you may well have some young digger enthusiasts in your group. If you, or the kids, have ever dreamed of operating your own dumper truck then Diggerland Devon would be a fun next stop on your itenerary.
They give you a chance to hop into the hot seat of some real-life diggers, dumpers and other full-size construction machinery on 20 different rides. They even have a mini digger on the hunt for buried treasure, or have tenpin bowling with a twist!

4. Bear Town, Collumpton
After seeing our crew dressed up in traditional garb, your kids may be interested in playing dress up themselves, then Collumpton's Bear Town may be more your cup of tea.
Bear Town is a role play centre with plenty for your little children to do and see. The centre has 12 fun areas designed specifically for them to play in. Whether they want to be a police officer, a builder, a mechanic, postal worker, shop keeper or perhaps maybe a firefighter, the possibilities are only limited by the children's imagination. Unfortunately, being a horseman isn't currently one of the options. So being a vet may have to suffice.
Speaking of cups of tea, they also have a place for the grown ups to sit back and relax in while the kids run around.

5. Killerton House, Exeter
If you love the great outdoors and hertiage, then another place to visit in Devon is Killerton House. Killerton is another National Trust property, not unlike Tiverton's own Knightshayes. It is a cosy Georgian family home filled with all sorts of exciting things to discover and surrounded by a vast outdoor space to explore. As you wander through the stunning Killerton House, why not close your eyes and pretend the huge living rooms are all yours? There are grand staircases, stunning portraits and plethora of exhibitions, all of which are there to be explored by history lovers of all ages.
With beautiful woods and parklands, you will find plenty of places for any children in your party to play. Whether it's building a den, soaring up high on a swing, or exploring the their orchard which boats almost a hundred different varieties of apple tree!
